Beauty vs Glamour
January is about beginnings, personal renewals, starting new projects and sustaining what you have already started.
February, to cleanse, to purify, to filter through, to fill up. To fill yourselves with what is already inside you to understand the beauty, the essence that is you.
What is this essence? Can you touch it, can you see it, and can you taste it?

I have had many gold nuggets given to me from spirit these last few months. One of these nuggets was about the difference between Beauty and Glamour.
Beauty is defined as a "quality, or state of being” that which pleases merely by being perceived” (Aquinas).
It is us, our beingness. It is our essence. The us that is aligned with the universe, the God of our understanding, the beauty of our breath and the knowledge that this breath is our lifeline to each other.
Glamour however is defined as:
A charm affecting the eye, making objects appear different from what they really are. Witchcraft; magic; a spell. A kind of haze in the air, causing things to appear different from what they really are. Any artificial interest in, or association with, an object, through which it appears delusively magnified or glorified. (Wiktionary .org)
When I arrived home from Bali in May, after spending time with Bishop Desmund Tutu at the Quest for Global Healing, I found myself filling up with shame. Shame for the abundance I have and a feeling I was not sharing it properly. Shame can be a wound that creeps in as a reptile and disguises itself as self righteous.
I came away thinking I have to quit Crabtree & Evelyn, after all “How can I teach about spirituality and then go out and sell something useless?". (Judge Archetype)
After I quit, within a month I experienced a sickness the likes I never wish to go through again. It was weary, dark, and angry. I was soon to realize that I did not have to move to a monastery, (our new home to house angel workshops) or change my life to be in my beauty, my essence. I allowed myself to get caught up in the idea that selling, commercialism is glamour. I now realize that if my essence is beauty, selling, being in front of those happy faces is” Service with Beauty,” not glamour. If I did not love the company (Crabtree & Evelyn), the people (Helen & Staff), the product, the travel, then and only then would it have been selling with glamour in mind. It would have been wearing the mask of ego (falsehood). To caste a spell.
Glamour and service can be balanced when we are living our soul's mission which is to be of service and to be forgiving. When we service ourselves we are also open to service others in a balanced way.
Now, without the commercial aspects of the Gift Trade in my life the true gift is that I can focus on Whitelight and the joy of being with new clients I did not make time for.
Let someone else be glamorous, I will choose to be in love with my essence and the essence of those around me.
John will be leaving again for Haiti February 5th, 2007. Not a very glamorous job. Please send your light to that part of our world with peace as your intent.

A Nugget of Wisdom
"Your mission is who you are. You need not strive to find it. Simply be.
What will I be when I grow up we ask?
The answer is what you have always been. As disappointing as this sounds, it is actually a great relief. You don't have to search. What you do have to do is choose.
- Which part of you do you love best?
- What will it take for you to get really comfortable with that part of you?
- How public do you want to go?
- Do you want to work this privately, in your family, on the block, in your town, or in the world?
How sophisticated you need to be depends upon who your audience is. On the block, people just have to love you and what you offer. For the world, the depth breadth and quality of what you offer has to be well developed in order to be desired and of interest to this larger and more sophisticated audience.
If, for example, you are a baker of fine pies then for your family you simply bake and serve the pie.
If it is for your neighbor you must find a method of delivering the pie intact and warm at a time that they will be at home.
If it is for your town you need a convenient location to purvey the pies and knowledge about local health and safety rules. People need to know that the pies are there to be had and the pie must hold together for a longer time and still look and taste wonderful. This would require further knowledge and training.
For the world market you would need to know not only how to make a wonderful pie but also how to produce it in large numbers and how to make a pie that will travel well. You need to know laws pertaining to food safety and travel. You will also need to learn: packing systems, modes of transportation, business practices, tax rules, international marketing laws and financial exchange rates.
In other words the greater the market the more knowledge you need to have with respect to delivering your product.
Whatever level you wish to function at does not diminish your contribution to the world. God gave us free choice. We are part of the whole mosaic of our world. Each piece is of perfect shape color and size. Whatever we choose is the right choice.
I have a friend who when asked what makes her happy always gives the same answer. I just like to help others is always her reply. She has no angst about "becoming". Her work is with developmentally delayed adults and they are lucky to have the devotion and stimulation of someone who helps them to be the best that they can be. She will probably never be famous doing this. It is, none the less, very important work that she is doing and we are all lucky that she does this.
